Darwin part 1

We have been in Darwin for 2 weeks now, the first week was spent doing bits & peices to the van, and we are quite relaxed, been doing a lot of swimming in the pool, riding of our bikes on the bike trail.
We went to the Parliament House to see the Darwin Commemorative Wall Quilt in the NT Library, it has the names of 2000 people spent time in Darwin at the time of WW11 & many signed the patches as did my father.

This is the patch signed by my Dad who was in Darwin from the second day of the bombing
The beach at Fanny Bay
A duck on the road
Now coming out of the water
On another day we went to the Aviation Heritage Centre to see the B52 and other planes

Some views from Stokes Hill Wharf
The Ocean Viking (customs ship) was in port
Also visited the WW11 oil storage tunnels that where built for the Navy, when finished the Navy did not need them as the war was finished.

Quite remarkable really as the workers built them by hand, pick & shovel.
On Sunday we went to a flower show, small show but beautiful flowers

The US Navy arrived in Darwin a couple of days ago, here are some of the 3 ships in port

The port Pilot boat racing round the wharf
This is one of our neighbours in the park (5th wheeler put on the back of a truck)
We are enjoying Darwin, been to see my cousin Neila & John for dinner this was very nice. The weather is hot 30c most days but the humidity is up in the afternoon so swimming is required.
