Darwin part 2

Hi All,
Part 2 for Darwin, July 1st was Northern Territory Day this is Cracker Night, so off to Mindil Beach Market for the sunset & crackers. Although it was a bit cloudy the sunset was beautifull.

At 7.30 pm the public display started & went for 1/2 hour. The beach was full of people there to watch. My photos are not as good as the display, it just kept getting better. the barges where out in the bay so all the fireworks had a black background, so the colours where bright.

I liked the smarties in the sky
Raining lights
The following day we headed of to look at Berry Springs, very nice & cool the swimming was great after a day of driving around.
This is the beach at Mandorah, like a swim? All you have to do is watch for the croc's
The pier at Mandorah , the ferry runs from here to Darwin.
On another day we visited the NT Museum, lots of fishing boats from the islands, the Tracy display & lots of other stuff.
After lunch at the museum we went to the East Point Museum, large gun implacements from the WW11.

Search light that the beam went 25 mile out to sea, also used for the planes.

I have always wanted one of these to go shopping at the market with, easy no parking problems.

This cable was hung from the boys (above) across the opening of Darwin Habour to stop the subs getting in. 1 cable on the sea floor & 1 just below the surface, anything passing between sent a signal to the radio people.
We also went on a sunset harbour dinner cruise, the food was great & served at your table, oysters for Ian, prawns for Ian, kangaroo, beef, salad & a lovely dessert.

Sunset on Fanny Bay

We are now off the Kakadu for a week or so. Will see you all again soon. Marilyn & Ian
